Metal roofing |

| Description: |
| Great for low-pitched roofs and high-pitched roofs alike, metal roofs are ideal for forested areas, moss prone areas and areas that receive a lot of snow. With many new metal roof options, building owners can choose metal roofs in a multitude of colors and textures that even imitate cedar shake [link to cedar shake]or tile [link to tile description](without the excess weight of tile). Most metal roofs are installed in sheets, but shingles are an option also--the most popular being aluminum and copper. The cost of metal roofing is initially higher but it has a longer lifetime than other roofing materials. Also, metal roofs can lower heating and air conditioning costs, making a metal roof a very good investment. In addition, most metal roofs are made from recycled metals, making them an environmentally friendly choice for your business. |

| Maintenance/Installation/Concerns: |
| Aluminum and steel are typically coated with a Kynar coating (or similar coating) to prevent peeling and fading. Metal roofs can be walked on, unlike other roofs. However, care should be taken when walking on roofs with deep shake and tile profiles, to prevent damage to the contour of the ridges. But, with no maintenance necessary for most metal roofs, walking on the roof will most likely be unnecessary. |
Standing Seam Metal Roof

| Description: |
| The standing seam roof is made of steel , one of man's oldest and most durable building materials. And yet, the lightweight metal roof panels weigh a relatively modest 1-1/2 pounds per square foot. In most retrofit projects, the standing seam metal roof can be installed over an existing flat roof, eliminating costly, disruptive and potentially hazardous tear-offs. In addition, the metal seam metal roofing is completely recyclable .
A standing seam metal roof provides durable, puncture-resistant protection against the weather. The raised seam between panels assists drainage, while organic sealants are factory applied inside the seams and automatic field seaming machines produce weather-tight connections between metal roof panels. Metal seam roofing has been used in some 50% of all low-rise commercial, industrial and institutional buildings erected in the last several years. Metal seam roofing can be obtained in a variety of colors. |
